There is a lot of research going on related to Glycemic Index and weight loss as well as the consumption of such food on many conditions. An interesting study, conducted by Arturo Jiménez-Cruz et al. in 2004 compared traditional Mexican cuisine (moderate glycemic index) with higher glycemic index Mexican food.
While it was not the goal of the authors to explore the topic of weight loss, (the goal was to explore the effects of a short term moderate glycemic index diet on dyslipidemia and diabetes), it is interesting to note that the moderate glycemic index food group returned an insignificant amount of weight loss (in a very short term study) whereas the high glycemic index group did not budge.
We invite you to explore the topic of eating Mexican food to lose weight in a little detail on our micro blog,
